About this Fund
Together we can restore Florida.

Insurance, government and relief organizations are not equipped to cover all of the needs of Floridians impacted by natural disasters. The Florida Disaster Recovery Fund was formed to meet the long-term recovery needs of Floridians.

The Fund is managed by nonprofit Volunteer Florida Foundation, which manages the Governor's initiatives in community service and volunteerism. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization (Florida registration number is CH8536) and your donations are tax-deductible.

Mission Statement: The mission of the Florida Disaster Recovery Fund is to raise funds to help Floridians with recovery from natural disasters through strengthening families and rebuilding communities.

Goals of the Recovery Fund
  • MAKE RECOVERY DOLLARS STRETCH – by providing needed financial assistance where insurance and government help leaves off
  • HELP REBUILD FLORIDA COMMUNITIES AND LIVES. Funds may be used to help rebuild communities by providing needs identified by local organizations working in recovery, and by helping nonprofits and faith-based organizations rebuild their own structures so they may continue to assist in rebuilding communities.
Guiding Principles

Money goes where it is most needed, with local decision-making. Determinations of need are made by long-term recovery organizations within the impacted communities. These organizations are composed of individuals from immediate recovery organizations, businesses, nonprofits and other representatives living and working in recovery within those communities, who best know the constantly changing needs of their communities. Direct grants may also be given to nonprofits and faith-based groups who need to rebuild their own infrastructure to serve their communities.

All donations are tax-deductible. A special account has been opened by the nonprofit Volunteer Florida Foundation to take donations. All donations designated for this purpose will be deposited in this special account and will be used for recovery efforts. (Registration number is CH8536). An audit and report of the use of funds is posted on this website.

Please give. Your donation is tax deductible.
